सत्येंद्रनाथ बोस भारतीय भौतिक विज्ञानी थे, जिन्होंने बोस-आइंस्टाइन सांख्यिकी (Bose-Einstein statistics) का प्रस्ताव दिया था, और उनके योगदान ने गॉड पार्टिकल (Higgs boson) के सिद्धांत को प्रेरित किया।गॉड पार्टिकल के जनक के रूप में पहचाने जाने वाले सत्येंद्र नाथ बोस का 04 फरवरी को निधन हो गया था।

कोलकाता में 01 जनवरी 1894 में सत्येंद्र नाथ बोस का जन्म हुआ था। उन्होंने नदिया जिले के बाड़ा जगुलिया गांव से अपनी शुरूआती शिक्षा पूरी की। फिर कोलकाता के प्रेजिडेंसी कॉलेज में बीएससी की डिग्री प्राप्त की। इसी यूनिवर्सिटी से उन्होंने एमए कंप्लीट किया। वह बचपन से ही पढ़ाई में काफी तेज थे। सत्येंद्र नाथ बोस एक बेहतरीन शिक्षक और लेखक भी थे।
शिक्षा पूरी होने के बाद साल 1924 में सत्येंद्र बोस ने ढाका विश्वविद्यालय में रहने के दौरान एक शोध पत्र लिखा था। इस शोध पत्र को उन्होंने अल्बर्ट आइंस्टीन को जर्मनी भी भेजा था। फिर बाद में अल्बर्ट आइंस्टीन ने उस शोधपत्र को जर्मन में अनुवाद कर एक प्रतिष्ठित वैज्ञानिक जर्नल में ‘बोस’ के नाम से प्रकाशित कराया था।
वहीं यूरोप में रहने के दौरान बोस को अल्बर्ट आइंस्टीन और मैडम क्यूरी समेत कई अन्य वैज्ञानिकों के साथ काम करने का मौका मिला। इस दौरान बोस के विचार को अपनाते हुए आइंस्टीन ने ऐसे कणों के समूह की खोज जिन्हें बोसोन के नाम से जाना जाता है।
बोस ने 1924 में यह सिद्धांत विकसित किया था, जो विशेष रूप से उन कणों के व्यवहार को समझाता है, जिन्हें बोसॉन कहा जाता है। ये कण एक विशेष प्रकार के कण होते हैं, जैसे कि फोटॉन और हिग्स बोसॉन। बोस की यह खोज बाद में आधुनिक भौतिकी में महत्वपूर्ण साबित हुई।
